"Ladies and gentlemen, the Heartbreak Kid, Shawn Michaels! Well, Shawn, here we are. The Semi-Finals. One more win, and you're in the Final. However, to get there, you have to go through a man you have a very unique history with, Bret Hart."
"Woah, woah, there, holdup Ian! You make it sound like this will be a challenge for the Heart Break Kid. I have a history with Bret Hart, and history is on my side. Sure, he got the best of me in my formative years, but when push came to shove, I kicked his teeth down his throat to win my first World Title. Then, a year and a half later, in the rematch, I did it again. Only this time, I did it with his own move. Did I screw Bret? YES I DID! Bret, I screwed you once, and I'll screw you again! And why would I do that? Because I can. And, just to make sure, I have someone watching my back." Triple H moves into camera range. "Meet my official corner man, Bret. Unlike you, I have friends in the locker room." With a smirk on his face, Michaels turns the microphone over to a smiling Triple H.
"Hi Bret! Don't worry, I'm not there to cause trouble. I'm just going to be at ringside to show my support to my partner, HBK." His smile disappears, and his tone turns more menacing. "But if you try anything funny, there will be hell to pay. I am The Game, The King of Kings, and I will make sure the right man wins this match." His smile returns, and he looks at Shawn. "Shall we go?" The two men walk off, leaving Ian to wonder about the chances of Bret Hart winning this match.
In the ring, the lights go out, except for some green spotlights, and over the speakers, we hear, "Are you ready?" The crowd pops, and as we hear "Break It Down" Shawn Michaels and Triple H emerge from the back. Triple H walks menacingly to the ring, as Shawn Michaels dances his way down the ramp. The enter the ring and pose for the fans, before grabbing microphones and assuming the DX pose. With HBK kneeling before him, Triple H speaks softly into the mic. "For the thousands in attendance, and the millions watching at home, leeeeeeeeeet's get ready to SUCK IIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIT!" The crowd pops, and HBK speaks. "And if you're not down with that, we've got two words for ya!" The crowd in unison chants "SUCK IT!", then explodes in cheers. They start posing, as the cameras head backstage again.
Ian looks into the camera and welcomes the opponent of Shawn Michaels. "Ladies and gentlemen, please welcome my guest at this time, Hall of Famer, Bret "Hit Man" Hart! Bret, here we are, two wins away from winning it all. And once again, staring at you from across the ring is your nemesis, Shawn Michaels. Making things even more complicated, we just learned Triple H will be at ringside. We all know the pure hatred you have for these men, but you have to find a way to suppress it. You don't want to get yourself disqualified. Your thoughts?"
"You want my thoughts? This whole thing sucks! Why is Triple H there? Is he a manager? No. It's just one more way of screwing me! I'm sick of it. This bias is pathetic! And you're one of the worst ones! You present yourself as an unbiased announcer just doing his job, but we all know you are hoping Shawn Michaels wins this. You know what I think of that?"
Ian pauses, and says, "I don't...." Bret cuts him off, pushing him on his back. He then locks Ian in the Sharpshooter, pulling back for a minute, then releasing it. He picks up the microphone.
"Send that message to Shawn Michaels, because pretty soon, he's going to experience the same thing! I don't care who is at ringside! Shawn Michaels will NOT win this match. I am the best there is, the best there was, and the best there ever will be, and I......" Bret pauses, as Owen Hart appears and gets in his face. "What do you want?"
Owen stares into Bret's eyes, and then speaks. "Bret, you know I have my issues with you. However, since I got eliminated, I have been getting calls and letters from a fan. A fan who has shown me that above all else, a Hart needs to advance further than the Heartbreak Kid, Shawn Michaels. His name is Jon, and I have brought him here, to sit in the front row and watch us annihilate Shawn Michaels in person. I can always fight you another time. For now, I want to ask if you'll accept me as you corner man." Owen extends his hand, and Bret stares at it. He slowly extends his own hand, grabs Owen's, and Owen pulls Bret towards him, embracing him in a hug.
We go back to the arena, where Shawn Michaels and Triple H are finalizing their strategy. The music of Bret Hart hits, and the Hart brothers walk side by side down to ringside. Owen jumps into the ring, while Bret walks around the ring. He stops at a man in his mid-20's, wearing a Bret Hart T-shirt, who he identifies as his #1 fan Jon. Bret takes off his pink sunglasses and places them on Jon's head, then jumps up to the apron and enters the ring. All four men exchange trash talk, and the ref calls for the bell.
Triple H and Owen Hart jump out of the ring, and Bret moves to the ropes, pulling on the top one to test it. He turns around, and sees Shawn Michaels in the corner, lying arrogantly across the top rope and watching him. Bret moves towards him, and Shawn jumps down. They meet face to face in the middle of the ring and stare into each other's eyes, with neither man backing down. They start to move away from each other, and Shawn takes acheap shot at Bret. However, Bret sees it coming, blocks it, and fires back with a series of right hands that staggers Michaels back to the ropes. Bret whips Michaels to the ropes, but on the way back HBK counters with a Lou Thesz press.
Straddling Bret Hart's chest, Shawn Michaels starts pounding on him, but after a moment, Bret rolls him over and lies on top of him, hitting several punches of his own. Shawn rolls him back over, and they continue this until both men roll right out of the ring and end up on the floor. The stand up and continue swinging rights and lefts at each other, before Triple H and Owen Hart arrive, with each man pulling their respective partners back. Bret paces around the ring while Michaels rolls under the bottom rope, and Triple H and Owen Hart exchange words. Bret finally climbs back into the ring, and the two men stare each other down again.
They go for a collar and elbow tie up, and Bret quickly applies an armbar to Michaels. He twists it around, and Shawn cries out in pain. He tries to shake himself free, but Bret has it in tight, so Shawn moves to the ropes. He steps through the ropes, forcing the ref to call for the break, and as Bret backs up, Shawn slaps him in the face. Bret loses his cool and lunges for Shawn, who jumps out of the ring to the floor - right in front of Jon as the ref pushes Bret back. Shawn gets into a war of words with Jon, and behind him, Bret runs off the far ropes. Michaels turns around just in time to catch a suicide dive through the ropes that takes both men down. They start trading punches while rolling around the floor again, and this time the ref jumps to the floor to separate them. He pushes Shawn back, then turns to face Bret, and Michaels leaps over the ref, grabbing Bret and shoving the ref back. They strruggle briefly, until Michaels lifts a knee into the midsection. He whips Bret to the ring post, but Bret reverses it, and Michaels slams into the steel, spinning around the post and collapsing to the floor.
Bret pushes past the ref and walks to Michaels. He grabs him by the hair and gives him a hard right, then kicks him in the midsection. He hooks Michaels, and suplexes him on the floor. Bret stands up and jumps back into the ring, posing for the fans, as Triple H goes to HBK's side, helping him up. The ref begins counting Michaels out, but Shawn manages to get up onto the ring apron and roll under the rope at six. Bret meets him there, dropping a pointed elbow into the upper chest, then standing up and driving his foot into the chest, stomping him while holding the top rope for leverage. The ref pushes him back from the ropes, allowing Michaels to stand up, and Bret grabs him by the hair, pulling him to the middle of the ring. He scoops him up for a big swinging backbreaker, and Michaels arches his back in pain.
Bret watches Michaels struggle, then scoops him up and hits another backbreaker. Michaels flops around the ring, holding his back, and Bret rolls him onto his stomach, driving a knee into the back. He then steps over him and applies a camel clutch, pulling back, and Michaels is in serious trouble. Bret releases it, then grabs his arms and legs, falling back onto his own back and lifting Michaels up in a surfboard. Michaels shakes his head, trying to fight the pain, and Bret releases him again. He hooks the leg and goes for the pin, but Shawn kicks out at two. Bret doesn't let up, as he pulls Michaels to the corner and whips him hard to the corner. Michaels hits with tremendous impact, and grabs his back with both hands as he drops to his knees. Bret approaches him, and Shawn reaches out, holding his leg and asking for mercy. Bret pulls him to his feet and hits a vertical suplex, and rolls over into another cover, again getting only a two count.
Bret pulls HBK to his feet again, and drives a forearm into the lower back, causing Michaels to drop to his knees again. He grabs him and whips him to the corner, but this time, Michaels manages to reverse it, and Bret flies between the second and top turnbuckle, smashing his shoulder into the post. HBK flops down onto his face as Bret rests on the second turnbuckle. Both men get to their feet, and Bret staggers towards Shawn. He takes a swing at Michaels, but he ducks it. Grabbing Bret's arm, HBK twists it and hits him with an armbar takedown, snapping the damaged shoulder joint.
HBK gets to his feet, holding his back, but with a new look of determination in his face as it is now Bret's turn to roll around the ring in pain. Michaels stomps on the injured shoulder, then, with Bret on his stomach, Michaels steps over him, grabbing the arm and pulling behind him. He lets him go and pulls Bret to his feet, then applies a hammerlock. HBK walks Bret around the ring, finally driving the shoulder in to the corner while still held in the hammerlock. Bret yells out in pain, and Michaels steps out of the ring. Pulling Bret's arm over the top rope, he drops to the floor, snapping the arm over the top rope.
Michaels exchanges words with Owen Hart on the floor, then climbs to the apron. He goes to the top rope, but Bret charges him. Michaels evades him by leapfrogging over him, but as he lands, his back gives out, and he reaches back to grab the injured area. He turns around, and gets hit with a running lariat takedown from Bret. Bret goes for another cover, but HBK kicks out again at two.
Bret instantly gets to his feet, and runs off the ropes, driving an elbow into the throat. He gets up and shakes some feeling back into his arm, then moves back to Shawn and drops a leg on him. Bret stands up and mocks Shawn, the pulls him to his feet and runs with him, tossing him over the top rope. However, Michaels holds on to the top rope and hauls himself back into the ring, skinning the cat. Bret rushes at him, but Shawn grabs him in a headscissors and pulls him over the top to the floor.
Bret lies in a heap on the floor, while Shawn holds onto the ropes, regaining his breath. He grits his teeth, working through the pain in his back, and notices Bret getting to his feet with the assistance of Owen Hart. Michaels jumps and springboards backwards, and even though Owen moves, he catches Bret with the Asai moonsault. Both men lay crumpled on the floor as the ref starts to count. Slowly, they start to move, and each man gets to his feet at about the same time. Michaels gives Bret a pair of knife edge chops, then whips him to the steel barricade. Bret hits the steel hard and collapses to the floor.
Michaels rolls into the ring to break the count, then rolls back out to the floor. He grabs Bret and slams his head off the barricade, then rolls him back under the ropes. He climbs to the apron, then goes up the corner, diving off with a frog splash. He covers, but Bret kicks out at two. Michaels grabs him in a side headlock, and leans into it. After a few moments of wearing the Hit Man down, Bret gets his feet under him. He rises to his knee, then stands up. Bret pauses, then lifts Michaels up and drops him with a belly to back suplex.
Bret gets to his feet, and charges at Michaels, but Shawn back bodysrops him over the top rope, and Bret ends up on the floor again. He starts to get up, but Michaels slingshots himself over the top to the floor in a diving crossbody. HBK gets up, and pulls an exhausted Bret Hart to his feet. He scoops him up and drops him neck first over the rail, and Owen Hart grabs HBK. Behind him, Triple H grabs Owen, and they start brawling.
HBK grabs Bret, and drags him to the Spanish announce table. He clears the table of the monitors and papers, then lies Bret across the table. He rolls back into the ring, and climbs the corner. Shawn Michaels stands on the top turnbuckle and looks out at the crowd as everyone gets to their feet. He looks down at Bret, shrugs his shoulders, and leaps off with a diving elbow onto Bret through the table. Both men are out of it, and the crowd starts chanting "HOLY poop! HOLY poop! HOLY poop!" The ref is too busy trying to separate Owen and Triple H, which gives Michaels plenty of time to recover. Finally, the ref orders Owen and Triple H back to the locker room, and both men brawl all the way up the ramp and behind the curtain. The ref turns to Michaels and Bret, and starts to count them both out. At seven, Michaels gets to his feet. The ref counts eight, and he staggers to the apron. At nine, he grabs the bottom rope and pulls himself back into the ring. The ref stops counting to see if Michaels is alright, then turns back to Bret and begins to count him out on his own.
Bret starts to move, and by six, he has made it back to the apron. Michaels runs off the far ropes and drops to a baseball slide, kicking Bret back against the rail, and the ref forces him back. Bret makes it back to the ring and rolls under the bottom rope, and Shawn walks over, measuring him for several well placed stomps to the chest and midsection. He pulls Bret to his feet and whips him to the ropes, lowering his head, but Bret counters with a kick to the head that causes Michaels to jump up in the air, spitting his gum out of his mouth as he staggers around. Bret quickly follows up by hooking Shawn and planting him with a DDT, but is too exhausted to follow up further.
Both men are out of it, but Michaels recovers first. He staggers around the ring, then heads outside. He climbs to the top, but Bret has also recovered, and he charges to the corner. He punches Michaels in the midsection, then climbs up in front of him. He hooks Shawn, and hits a superplex off the top! Both men are down again, but Bret rolls over and places an arm across the chest. The ref counts, but HBK kicks out just before the three. Bret pulls him to his feet, and whips him to the corner. Shawn flips up over the turnbuckles, then drops down again, landing on his feet. He turns around and gets nailed with a clothesline. Bret drops to the canvas and grabs his leg, dragging him to the corner. He wraps Shawn's legs around the post, and applies a figure four. The ref counts, and at four, Bret releases the hold to avoid the disqualification.
Bret rolls back into the ring as HBK uses the ropes to pull himself back up. Bret runs to the corner and mounts the second turnbuckle, hammering Michaels with a series of hard rights. He drops to the canvas, hooking HBK in a headlock, then charges out of the corner with a bulldog. He rolls him over and hooks the leg, and comes within a half second of winning the match. Bret sits up with his hands on his hips, wondering what it'll take to finish him off. He pulls Michaels to his feet and hits a swinging neckbreaker. He goes for another cover, and HBK gets his bottom foot on the rope.
Bret stands up, and points at Jon, sitting in the front row, and yells out, "This is for you!" He goes back to Michaels, who is slowly getting to his feet. Stepping up behind him, Bret hits a side Russian legsweep, then backs up to the corner. Jumping up to the second turnbuckle, he leaps off, driving an elbow into the upper chest. Bret stands up, and grabs both of HBK's legs. He crosses them, and goes for the Sharpshooter, but from nowhere, Michaels reaches up and grabs him by the head, pulling him over into a small package. The ref counts 1...2....and NO! Bret kicks out. They both get to their feet, and HBK goes for Sweet Chin Music from nowhere. However, Bret sidesteps him, and HBK nails the ref in the chin! The ref is kicked out of the ring, and Michaels stares at the fallen official in frustration.
HBK turns around, and Bret hits him with a right hand. He whips Michaels to the ropes and goes for a clothesline, but HBK ducks it, bouncing off the far ropes and countering with a flying forearm smash. Both men go down, and a moment later, HBK kips up to a huge pop from the crowd. He starts pumping his fists and staggering around the ring, getting himself psyched up, as Owen Hart comes running back down to ringside. Bret stands up and staggers towards HBK, but he grabs the Hit Man and drops him with a reverse atomic drop. He goes for a scoop slam, then goes to the outside. HBK climbs to the top, and leaps off with the flying elbow smash.
Shawn Michaels is now pumped up, and he moves to a corner. As Owen stands at ringside pleading for Bret to stand up, HBK starts tuning up the band in the corner. Bret gets to his feet and turns towards HBK, who lunges with Sweet Chin Music - but NO! Bret Hart catches HBK's foot, and sweeps the other leg out from under him. He quickly locks in the Sharpshooter, and Michaels immediately begins tapping - but there is no ref to see it. Owen Hart tries to wake up the ref, and when he sees the ref is out, he jumps into the ring.
Owen Hart points at HBK, telling him he's getting what he deserves, and starts gesturing to the crowd. As he moves behind Bret, he suddenly turns around and clotheslines his brother from behind. The crowd begins to boo, as Owen hits an enzuigiri on Bret as he stands up, then grabs him and gives him a belly to belly piledriver. Owen helps HBK up, and points at Bret, telling him to finish him off, as he goes back outside to wake up the ref.
HBK holds his back, looks at Owen Hart in confusion, then understands what has happened. He grabs Bret, who is unconscious, and applies a Sharpshooter to him, as Owen rolls the ref back in the ring. The ref shakes his head and sees HBK holding Bret in the submission. He crawls over, sees Bret Hart unconscious, and calls for the bell. HBK rolls out of the ring, raising an arm in the air, and makes his way to the back. Owen grabs a microphone, and returns to the ring. He looks down at Bret, who is not moving.
"You see this! I told you all I was going to make sure my brother Bret didn't win this tournament. And what better way to embarrass him if I couldn't beat him, than to have him lose to Shawn Michaels? I set him up, and he fell for it!" He looks to the front row, and spots Jon, who is having fits about this travesty. "Hey! Jon! Your letters provided me with the perfect opportunity to set my brother Bret up! I brought you here, because you're his biggest fan, and I wanted you to see first hand how your hero was eliminated! WOOOO!" With garbage being thrown in the ring at him, Owen drops the mic and heads backstage to thunderous jeers.
